Taskmy Privacy Policy

This policy explains how VACOZ handles personal data for Taskmy app usage, direct purchases, App Store distribution, license management, analytics, and support.

Language

Taskmy Privacy Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

Taskmy does not require a separate VACOZ member account. Depending on how you use Taskmy, the main personal data we process may include your Polar checkout email, app or device identifiers, product usage events, and licensing data needed to operate, improve, and protect the service.

This policy applies to the Taskmy macOS app, the Taskmy website and product page, Polar checkout, purchase confirmation, license portal, App Store distribution and in-app review prompts, and customer support.

VACOZ acts as the controller for the personal data described in this policy. Payment processing and certain licensing functions are provided through Polar. For App Store distribution, billing, and review flows, Apple may process certain data under its own policies.

2. Information We Collect

  • Checkout and contact data: the email address you provide when purchasing Taskmy through Polar or when contacting support.
  • License and device management data: license key, activation ID, device ID or device label, activation mode, success or failure result, failure reason, offline grace usage status, and timestamps related to activation or deactivation.
  • App and product usage data: app or installation identifiers, session identifiers, distribution channel (for example, direct or App Store), app version, macOS version, screen names, workspace activity snapshots, project or task or memo creation/open/save events, launch-at-login setting results, and similar product interaction events.
  • Localization and regional data: system region code, app language, localization mode, whether the selected language matches the system language, and language change events.
  • Purchase, promotion, and review interaction data: purchase CTA clicks, device management entry, promotion clicks, review card shown/response events, and whether the App Store review request API was invoked.
  • Technical and security data: IP address, browser or operating system details, access timestamps, and minimal error or security logs needed to keep the website, app integrations, and license portal stable.
  • Support data: the content of messages or attachments you send when asking for help.

VACOZ does not store your full credit card number or complete payment credentials. Polar processes payment details as the merchant of record.

For product analytics, we configure events to avoid sending task titles, memo content, project names, review text, or other user-authored content unless you intentionally include that information in a support request.

We configure PostHog to mask sensitive Taskmy query parameters such as email, license_key, purchase_token, checkout_id, and app_callback before analytics data is stored. Our custom analytics events are also designed not to include raw license keys or full payment details.

3. How We Use Personal Data

  • To distribute Taskmy, complete purchases, provide receipts, and help you access the appropriate direct-purchase or App Store version.
  • To issue, validate, deactivate, and recover Taskmy licenses and device slots, including offline grace handling and failure diagnostics.
  • To measure activation, retention, stickiness, first-value milestones, and feature adoption so we can improve onboarding and the core product experience.
  • To understand localization, region, and review-prompt behavior so we can improve language quality, regional UX, and App Store review flows.
  • To respond to support requests, troubleshoot account or license issues, and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • To meet legal obligations related to accounting, taxation, consumer protection, and dispute handling.

We do not use your checkout email for unrelated marketing unless you separately ask to receive those messages.

4. Sharing and Processors

  • Polar: checkout, payment records, receipts, license keys, and customer portal functions.
  • PostHog: app and website usage analytics, activation and retention analysis, conversion measurement, localization analysis, and limited error monitoring for Taskmy product and license flows.
  • Apple or App Store services: app distribution, billing, and in-app review request interfaces for the App Store version. Data Apple processes is governed by Apple's own policies.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers: website delivery, security monitoring, and limited operational logs.
  • Public authorities or legal advisors: only when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, users, or the service.

5. Retention

  • Records related to contracts, payments, and supply of digital goods may be kept for 5 years where required by applicable law.
  • Consumer complaint or dispute records may be kept for 3 years.
  • Website access logs may be kept for up to 3 months.
  • App and website product analytics events and online identifiers in PostHog are retained only for the period reasonably necessary for usage analysis, service improvement, and incident review, and are then deleted or aggregated according to our retention settings.
  • License management and support records are kept only as long as needed to operate the service, prevent abuse, or resolve disputes, and are then deleted or anonymized unless a longer legal retention period applies.

6. International Transfers and Security

Taskmy app, purchase, licensing, analytics, and review-related services may rely on infrastructure located outside your country, including services operated by Polar, PostHog, Apple, and other infrastructure providers in the United States, European Union, or other countries where those providers operate.

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls, HTTPS, and limited retention, to protect personal data.

7. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, data portability, or withdrawal of consent regarding your personal data.

If you would like to exercise your rights, please contact us by email. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity before responding.
